Murder Most Witchy Wicked Witches of the Midwest Book 10 eBook Amanda M Lee
Was somewhat disappointed in this book so far, and I'm about forty percent of the way through. Way too much sniveling/crying from Bay because Landon went undercover and unable to contact her. Then, when they finally met after the assignment was over, too much going over the same scenarios again...was undercover, couldn't contact her, him apologizing, how she felt, etc., etc. I found myself skipping over pages because I'd heard it all before....at least twice. Move on already. Hopefully, the last part of the book will improve.Tags : Amazon.com: Murder Most Witchy (Wicked Witches of the Midwest Book 10) eBook: Amanda M. Lee: Kindle Store, ebook,Amanda M. Murder Most Witchy Wicked Witches of the Midwest Book 10 eBook Amanda M Lee Reviews
I've been a fan. I've bought the books.
I can't even finish this one.
The angst and drama from Bay when Landon was undercover was over the top and seemed out of character to the Bay we've come to know.
It was too much.
7 chapters in and I have actually skipped pages at a time because of the repetitive whiny drivel.
Definitely not enough paranormal witchiness or mystery to start this book.
Give this one miss and let's hope Amanda Lee finds the mystery witch muse and leaves whiny Bay & desperate Landon to rest in peace.
I love this series, but this book irrited me at the outset. Landon goes undercover and Bay completely falls apart? She got so bad her own family couldn't stand her, and I agree with them. As a military wife who didn't see or hear from her husband for months, it just hit me wrong. The plot was excellent as usual, but it is my least favorite of the series due to Bay's behavior.
I never leave bad reviews but, I can't believe all the 5 star reviews of this book. I only bought it because a few people said it was the best one so far. I'm really done with this series this time..too much pointless bickering and whining. If you take out the "I'll make you eat dirt" lines, all the "nodding sagely" (does that even make sense?), the neck rolling, the pressing the heel of hands against foreheads or pinching bridges of noses, and all the "sweeties", and these books would each be a 100 pages shorter. It is a shame, I used to love this series but I can't stand Bay or Landon any more. Aunt Tillie was always the best part of these books and she has been reduced to a combat helmet, legging wearing "kvetch". I guess that is still better than being too "schmaltzy" though!
I've enjoyed all of Amanda Lee's books, but this one isn't her best. The first fifth of this book is Bay whining (as many others have noted) and should have been trimmed or boiled down to a few pages by the editor. Thankfully, the plot eventually begins to move forward and the rest of the book is classic Midwest Witches.
I'd been enjoying this tongue-in-cheek quirky/schmaltzy series up until now. But WHAT HAPPENED? In this episode FBI agent Landon goes undercover. His girlfriend Bay turns into a whiny, juvenile, drama queen. When she accidentally runs into him while he's undercover she sees him - gasp! - speaking to another woman, and she is emotionally shattered! He HAD to have seen how upset she was, and yet he DOESN'T IMMEDIATELY CALL HER! This crime is apparently so heinous that she and her entire family start plotting how to make him pay. When Landon returns from the undercover assignment and discovers how angry Bay is, he doesn't call her on her childish overreaction. No. He immediately turns into an emasculated, self-flaggelating suck-up tearfully begging for her forgiveness over and over and agreeing that she has every right to be angry because he took his focus off of her for a moment while doing his job and - gasp! - inadvertently hurt her feelings!! He takes the milquetoast "yes, dear" cliche to new lows. Gag!! Impossible to decide which character has become more unbearably off-putting. A murder occurs and they reconcile. Then follows chapter after chapter of their relationship rehash. Landon I'm sooooo sorry! Bay I love you, but what you did was terrible and I'll have to make you pay. Landon I can't really blame uou, and I love you MORE! I'd do anything for you! Yada, yada. Over and over. I guess this is supposed to distract us from the fact that there is virtually no mystery plot in this book. The secondary theme is everyone is out to persecute Bay for no discernible reason the FBI, the State police, her boss. Poor Bay. Everyone else rushes to protect her from the bullies. You'd think she was five. In fact, I felt like I'd gone through the looking glass and landed on a middle school playground. The relationship, the conversations, everything in this book is so adolescent! After treading water forever with no actual plot the 'mystery' is suddenly wrapped up at the end of the book in quick summary form. The bad guys simply tell us what they did. If you are a fan of this series do yourself a favor and skip this book. You'll never be able to "unread" it! If you are new to the series PLEASE skip this one and read the earlier books! After this one I have no idea whether to read future offerings. It's not looking good at the moment.
I love Amanda Lee's Wicked Witch series and have read all the previous books at least twice. I enjoy them so much I normally don't write a review because it would be little more than me gushing about how much I love the books.
Not so this time.
Shortly after I started reading this one, I found myself wondering who had kidnapped my favorite characters and given them all lobotomies. I found myself disliking Bay and wondering why Landon was suddenly a spineless fool. And Thistle had gone from being snarky and kind of funny to being an out-right bitch who wasn't at all funny. The only one not changed was Aunt Tillie.
I finished the book hoping for redemption and found enough that I will buy the next book in the series but after that? All bets are off.
